The Problem of Sin and Death
- Genesis.3:6-7:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was [a]pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves [b]coverings.
- Romans.5:12:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned
- Romans.6:23: 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the [a]gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Galatians.6:7-8:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
The Solution to the Problem of Sin and Death
- Gen.3:15:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
- But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born[a] of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
- Eph.1:10:10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, [a]both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.
- For when we were still without strength, [a]in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
The Only Way To Solve the Problem is Cross
- whom God set forth as a [a]propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
- Hebrews.5:7-9:7 who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
- John.10:17-18:17 “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
- Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [a]robbery to be equal with God, 7 but [b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

- Why is the subject of the cross so important to you and in your faith What is the meaning of the cross to you based the lesson 1?
- When we have been delivered from sin’s penalty, is it ever right to feel guilt? Why or Why not?
- If anyone asks this question: Why can't God just forgive everyone without a cross? What would be your answer?
- As a believer, you can be continually defeated by sin. Do you agree with this statement? Why or Why not?
- When you walk with Christ, do you have the power to sin grow weaker? Why or Why not?
