Mustard Seed vs Mountains

May 2025

As we begin the month of May 2025, we realize it is almost the middle of the year. Four months have passed. A new month has dawned. We know the past. We can assess the present. However, we can plan for the month but cannot predict what will happen. When we look at the days ahead, sometimes, it stands like a mountain. We can see big and challenging days. Amid uncertainties existing in the communities, workplaces, and daily lives in our families, we are in panic, we feel vulnerable, hopeless, and helpless. What can we do if we face mountains in our journey?

The words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew brings the counsel to our panic mode: 20 So Jesus said to them, Because of your [a]unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17:20).

Because of unbelief, we come to the point of panic. Jesus tells us that even the smallest seed of faith, like the tiny mustard seed of the Gospel, can move mountains. But that little seed of faith needs good soil, ample light, and plentiful water to take root. No seed can grow – indeed, can move mountains – all alone or without them. How can we get this all in one place? The place is called the Church, the Body of Christ, and the Fulness of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23).

The Lord has given us the Salvation, the Holy Spirit, the Holy Scriptures, and Spiritual disciplines such as fasting, prayer, giving, serving, learning, etc. We, the church, are called to provide the nourishment and care for us to grow in faith. In the church environment, we find nourishment, growth, and togetherness in love, ministry, and services.

This month, we will continue with the ministries to grow our faith to remove the mountains. We have Sunday School, Teens, Youth, Men, Women, Love in Action, Prayer ministries such as Early morning prayer, Esther Fellowship Prayer, Intercession Prayer, Ezra-Antioch Prayer, Cottage Prayer, Family Fasting prayer, All night Prayer, and Outreach program through 250 Mission Team in Brighten Village, Gaithersburg. We have worship services every Sunday at 3:30 pm. All these ministries are organized in the church to grow and nurture your faith.

Please call me anytime for prayers, visits, or counseling. I have assigned Thursday as the Day of Prayer for the Church. Please contact me or share your prayers with me in any form. All your prayers are kept confidential unless you want to share with the church family. If you want to visit you and your family, please let me know when you want me to do so. I am here to help you grow in your faith.

As the people of God, we are called to initiate our faith to move mountains. We must do this when we are progressing in faith and mission. Whatever the mountains loom large against us individually and collectively as the church, our small faith can move these mountains. Together, let us believe that nothing is impossible with God.

Bless you, all!
