Introduction
This is a unique psalm to call to worship the Lord from the people of God to nations and creation. There is no indication of authorship in the psalm but the middle verses of the psalm similar to David’s song recorded in 1 Chronicles.16:23-33 and so it is suggested that David was the author.

God rejoices the praises of His people, especially in new songs. New songs always come from the awareness of God’s love and grace. God has one great thing in this world. God’s mercies become inspirations to sing a new song. Through these songs, all the earth praises God from day to day and also proclaims his good news of salvation and declares his glory.
Reasons to Worship the Lord with a new song. Psalm.96:4-6
The psalmist did some reasons to worship the Lord with a new song. He spoke of the greatness of God. The Lord is great in power, mercy and dignity. He is the only God and creator of all. To honour and majesty belong to the Lord and we are called to worship the Lord as the people of God

The psalmist focused on the call to all the nations, families and the entire earth to praise and worship God to recognize and declare strength and glory. When he mentioned the families of the peoples, he reminded that this is the promise of God given to the father of faith, Abraham, in Genesis.12:3. In Christ, it becomes reality. God has shown his glory and power to the world and in response to his revelation, the nations are called to worship him.

The psalmist said that the nations should worship the Lord because he reigns the whole world with power as the Kings. God does not reign the world only but he also judges the world with justice and righteousness.

The psalmist called the whole creation both heaven and the earth to worship the Lord. God is good to sustain the creation and to redeem them from the bondage of corruption. He invited the creation to worship the Lord with joy and gladness because he is the creator.

The psalmist gave the creation to worship the Lord because the Lord is creator, sustainer and redeemer and also he is coming to judge the world to create the new heaven and the new earth.
Conclusion: The psalmist invites us to worship the Lord with a new song because our Lord is the King of kings and Lord of lords. God’s word calls us to worship as the people of God and also to invite all nations and the entire creation to worship the Lord with a new song.
